Not the mushy gushy stuff that you read in books, but the real life love stories that “chick flicks” are based on. This cake is one of those.
I was contacted by a very kind lady named Ashley. She was desperately looking for someone who could replicate her parents wedding cake for their 40th anniversary. It seems as though Ashley and her siblings were going to throw a surprise party for her parents to celebrate their love. AAAWWW.
Well, having been taken 40 years ago the photo of the cake was hard to see, and some of the decorations are no longer made. The topper has long since been lost, and the original wedding cake served hundreds.
Ashley and her brothers decided that it would be cool to have this car made for them. There is a story behind it, you see. She has given me permission to share it.
Apparently, the groom owned this specific car. On their wedding day, the bride had set down her veil and her shoes on top of the car, and somehow forgot about them. The wedding was 45 minutes late getting started, and she was married with no veil, and barefoot!
On the top of the car cake, there is a tiny pair of white shoes. there is also a veil on the back. The couple were made in the image of the real bride and groom.
Not only do I love the story about the veil and the shoes, but I love that their children love them so much that not only did they listen to their parents tell the story, but knew that this would be meaningful to them… more so than the wedding cake. What a love story. And 40 years…WOW.
Congratulations!
