Eagle Cake (Memorial Day)

This cake won first place and “people’s choice” at the Eastern Idaho State Fair 2009. It is also taking it’s place among other tributes in the Memorial building in Pocatello Idaho. They are currently working on a museum of war where this cake will be displayed.
He is made from modeling chocolate with sugar paste details. Each wing was cut and detailed one at a time. The head was hand sculpted and painted. The cake that he is leaving from has each branch of the military represented. They have been hand painted in gold and brown. The bottom tier is covered with chocolate fondant. The names of fallen soldiers from Idaho are painted on around the sides of the cake.

Fair wedding dress

The Fair wedding dress is a competition piece. It was shown at the Eastern Idaho State Fair where it took 1st Place. The handmade sugar hydrangeas on it took over 15 hours complete. The sequins on this cake are edible and are a rare technique to Idaho.

China Plate

The China Plate is another award-winning wedding cake (2nd place). The theme was to design a wedding cake after a piece of china. This cake was done is ivory fondant. It has free hand painting on the side of the alternating tiers to match the china. Piping was painted in gold. The shape is a custom carved shape to accent the shape of the china. The flowers on top are all sugar.
